prairie country

We drove a few hours south to Nashville this past weekend to play with Across Tundras for the release of their new album, 'Old World Wanderer'. What can i say?..This is one of my favorite cities I've had the great pleasure of visiting in the past few months. It's always a good time stepping back into the sludgy south.

AT played a most solid set consisting almost entirely of cuts off their new record. They didn't waver much from what seemed at times like a perpetual riff conducting a gliding magic carpet across psychedelic sands. I certainly hope that we'll have the pleasure of meeting up with these guys again!

The Groove is an awesome place. Louis, Andrew, and the rest of the crew there are stellar people. Make sure to drop in and check out their stash of amazing vinyl and cds. p.s. Andrew took some video with his iPhone of us playing Khnum...go check it out on our myspace...annd, our friend Monty filmed the entirety of this show and some of the AT set in hd. so maybe we'll upload some of that soon too.

Stuff. People are wanting stuff...as far as that goes we are almost finished with the album art and we have a new tee design in the works as well. We'll have both posted on this blog as soon as we get em'.
So in the meantime...come hang with us this weekend in Johnson City, TN. We will be playing w/ locals Cerements and Audible Burst (KY)

cosmic guidance

Planets must've aligned favoring loud and heavy during the last few days of February. We were fortunate enough to make some great new friends, reconnect with old one's, play a few shows with some very able bands, and drink our weight in porter and mead before returning home safely. This weekend provided proof that heavy music is alive and well throughout Kentucky.
Along the journey we crossed paths with Louisville's, Seidr, and definitely recommend checking these guys out. Their songs go beyond sound alone, and we're currently working on collaborating with them on shows and maybe more.
Our first release is on the cusp of completion and we're looking forward to recording a number of splits in the spring. While no official release date has been scheduled for, 'St. Anthony's Fire', I can reveal that it will be freely available in April.

Khnum Khufu. Recorded at Wiseguys - Somerset, KY on 2/26/10

Also, this past weekend we were informed by a close comrade that we will be sharing a venue with the one and only, Pentagram. They will be performing in the big room at the Soughgate House on the same night that we play in the parlour with Old One and Highgate. Needless to say were excited as hell about this one! See you there...

dosed, eh?

Dosed, will appear on Ottawa, Ontario's CKCU-FM 93.1 FM tonight. The track will be featured on the program Crossing Boredom, a 90 minute show dedicated to a variety of improvised music.

The program streams live, so be sure to tune in here.
CKCU is Canada's first community-based campus radio station. It first broadcast was on November 14, 1975. (from wiki)

Our best, to the DJ's at Crossing Boredom for transforming us into Canadian radio waves for the evening. And hopefully beyond..

show flier, etc.

This is the flier for the MOTA show in louisville. There is supposedly a pretty sick hand-bill with our name misspelled on it floating around somewhere out there thanks to our Ohlm brother. I'll try to post it, along w/ artist info, sometime soon.

Also, below is the 11" x 17" poster that I made one stoney night. Buy one, or two from us for $5 ea. or $8 PPD in the US. They're glossy on heavvvy cardstock.

Okay. So, this'll have to do until we have time for a proper webiste.
Hell, I honestly like this better any damn way.

Now, Onto some substance..

We are currently busy at work on our demo/ep/whatever you want to call it, tentatively titled, 'St. Anthony's Fire'. We are concluding tracking and might have a demo mix streaming online in the coming days. Otherwise, this release will be available online from a linked server when we're finished. Physical copies will be made available on cassette tape through Karmic Swamp. link coming soon. And on a self released compact disc found at various shows or through mail-order. more on this later..

Currently HM has some regional dates on the calendar. with some pretty damn good bands, i might add.

I'm really glad to see so much regional support lately..and it's great that everyone..well, mostly everyone is working together on various projects, gigs, etc. and I'm also really happy that some great bands have asked us to support them on some groovy shows coming up.

On a side note, we've really got to stop this 'pay-to-play' bullshit that i've been hearing about. This baffles me! I mean, really...doesn't that seem like you/your band are gettin stuck hard right in the ass by some promoter scumsleaze that will ultimately just be putting money in his pocket? This makes you and your band look fucking ignorant. Don't pay-to-play and please, don't ask us to do so either. I'll try to stay more on topic from here on out. Thanks.
